Ocean friendly restaurant spotlight 2024
This year, our local Sonoma Coast Surfrider Chapter has joined the Ocean Friendly Restaurants Program campaign.
This program recognizes restaurants for eliminating single-use plastics in their operation, such as plastic bottles, bags, straws, expanded polystyrene foam and more.
Reducing plastic waste not only benefits our oceans and beaches but businesses reap rewards as well. Studies show that restaurants can save between $3,000 and $22,000 by eliminating single-use plastic.
We are excited to announce our first 2 ocean friendly restaurants in Sonoma County: Papas and Pollo in Sebastopol and Fishetarian in Bodega Bay. The owners of these popular restaurants met all the necessary criteria to be awarded this recognition.
A restaurant called Papas and Pollo displays an Ocean Friendly Restaurants banner in front of their Sebastopol location.
A restaurant called Fishetarian displays an Ocean Friendly Restaurants banner in front of their Bodega Bay location.
We invite you to dine at both of these restaurants and enjoy their delicious offerings and dedication to sustainability.
We look forward to inviting more and more restaurants to join Surfrider in this campaign to stop plastic at the source. The larger we grow this network of Ocean Friendly Restaurants, the more people will adopt the concept of plastic-free. Please join us in this exciting movement!
