To oppose the development of 4 building towers and a 222 room hotel, as this projects would directly disturb the preserve and nesting sea turtles.
In November our Sebastian Inlet Chapter began rallying and educating the public about the need to protect the habitat of the nesting sea turtles, specifically an oceanfront preserve located at Hightower and Pelican Beach in Satellite Beach. Hightower and the lands to the north of it were part of Brevard County Unincorporated area and annexed into Satellite Beach, for the purpose of creating preserve and entrusting the City to protect it. The agreement included changes to Comprehensive plan to reduce density and protect the Preserve from height development on adjacent properties. The Chapter and residents became concerned about the new proposed development of 4 condo/unit towers and a 222 room hotel. These projects would directly disturb the preserve and nesting sea turtles.
